Camberwell College of Arts,
Chelsea College of Arts and
Wimbledon College of Arts
Type: Refurbishment
Duration: 10 Weeks
Value: £1.9m
Multi-site project for the University Arts London at their Camberwell, Wimbledon and Chelsea locations.
UAL is ranked 2nd in the world for Art and Design, and delivers world class creative teaching and requires its working environments to do the same. In line with increasing investment in emerging technologies and virtual environments, UAL appointed ITC to deliver this refurbishment project to help them deliver world class arts education.
Camberwell: We carried out a fit-out of the 3rd, 4th & 5th floors of the new academic building and refurbished parts of the ground and first floors of the Victorian Building.
Chelsea: Light touch refurbishment of existing rooms within Block A on the campus was carried out. Finishes include new motorised blinds decorations, vinyl flooring and suspended ceilings in designated areas.
Wimbledon: Refurbishment of existing studios formed new performance spaces. A light refurbishment of existing rooms was also carried out which now accommodate courses decanted from other parts of the Wimbledon campus.
Conquering a challenging lead-in and programme
The project was a logistical challenge, spread over 3 sites, across different areas of London. A tight programme and design variations typical of this type of project, put pressure on the ITC team to deliver on time.
World-class physical environment and underlying infrastructure that supports students and staff in their academic ambitions
The team put in an exceptional effort on this project, working long hours, evenings, nights and weekends to ensure the delivery of a high-standard finish and the spaces were ready to welcome back students into the buildings for the new term. The client was delighted with the outcome – a real testament to the collaboration from all involved.
