London Bridge Arcade Arches, London
Type: Strip out and re-fit
Duration: 31 weeks
Value: £500,000
A stunning glass façade gives the ‘wow’ factor to arches project at popular tourist spot Borough Market.
Network Rail were looking to create new commercial office space to expand their portfolio. To achieve this, we were called in to strip out and re-fit four railway arches within the London Bridge arcade.
Each required new arch linings and staircases installed to connect the mezzanine floors. Rear and front arch in-fills, steel, timber and glazing were removed and replaced, and new paved floors installed internally, along with external York Stone paving to level the areas.
New WC facilities were constructed, and utilities, mechanical and electrical works were undertaken, followed by decoration throughout. The location of this project brought more than the usual challenges of a busy public space; with both the rear and front of the arches situated on public thoroughfares.
To add to this, all deliveries had to be scheduled for very early in the morning to avoid disrupting traders setting up their stalls from 4am. It was also vital to maintain the site to a first-class standard to maintain Borough Market’s attractive reputation, with access assured for the public and traders during each working day.
We are pleased to report that the project was delivered to our usual high standard and to our client’s complete satisfaction.
