Kingston College’s new entrance and student centre improves experience for students, staff, and visitors

Kingston College’s entrance was no longer fit for purpose. The small entrance had little curb appeal, and was struggling to accommodate the large volume of students using it.

ITC built a new double height wrap-around extension to create a new entrance and student centre. We carried out alterations to the elevations to improve its appearance. The existing white single glazed Crittal windows were replaced with new double-glazed aluminium windows to improve thermal performance, quality and add architectural interest to the facade.

To compliment the new entrance, we installed benching, lighting bollards and hard paving. The landscaping was enhanced by planting new trees and we carried out tree root management, to enhance the urban environment.

High quality and efficient spaces

The new entrance atrium connects multi-purpose spaces, a new student hub, LRC area, Employability Hub, ESOL, EFL, Admissions and Student Support spaces, all easily accessible for all learners as they enter the building.

Designed to improve the student experience, the new facilities also support the building’s operational efficiency, along with it’s sustainability credentials. The striking new entrance enhances the appearance of the college and acts as a landmark building on the approach to Kingston town centre.
