Huge demand for Nursing course at Croydon University Centre, following the creation of the Clinical Simulation Centre
ITC helped Croydon College fulfil a long-held ambition to bring nursing courses to the borough when we built the state-of-the-art Clinical Simulation Centre.
The College benefited from ITC’s years of expertise and skills gained from creating outstanding healthcare environments for the NHS and private care providers, delivering this project under a Design & Build contract.
ITC Create an Immersive Learning Environment
We created a realistic setting for students to work within; from the moment they walk into the Centre, students will feel they are entering a professional working environment. The spaces created replicate a real-life clinical setting, including a patient waiting area, a hospital ward environment including a nurse’s station, utility rooms and stores.

The Build
The project involved a full refurbishment of an open plan link between two buildings, creating an impressive entrance for the Centre and setting the clinical tone for the simulated environment. To create the Centre, we carried out demolition works and made minor structural alterations. The space was transformed with new glazing, ceilings, partitions and joinery. Installations included electrical and mechanical equipment and a piped supply system.
The works were completed in a short time frame of just 8 weeks ready for the September intake of students. Carrying out the work over the summer holidays minimised disruption to the day to day running of the College.
BSc Adult Nursing students will benefit purpose-built facility
The Clinical Simulation Centre has enabled the College to expand their curriculum provision to attract new students. The space successfully replicates community and in-hospital settings and will allow students to safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, role players and hi-tech patient simulators providing a seamless transition into work placements.
