Catapult Transport Systems
Type: Refurbishment and fit-out
Value: £750,000
Duration: 9 weeks
Fast-track project for leading technology and innovation centre delivers contemporary and flexible working space.
We undertook a fit-out for technology firm Catapult at their Centre for Intelligent Mobility. The 12,000 sq ft project included the strip-out of the existing office areas followed by installation of glazed and solid demountable partitions (some of which were curved), ceiling adaptations to suit specialist installations, and new flooring, furniture and decorations throughout.
Specialist installations of a robotic wall and glazed folding wall now provide a range of flexible space options. M&E modifications and adaptations were made to service the new areas including kitchenettes, print stations, additional power, data and ventilation – as well as a stunning lighting feature for the ground floor break-out area.
A particularly exciting part of the project involved the “Visualisation Laboratory”, where Catapult use virtual reality technology to generate innovation and overcome problems within the UK’s transport network.
For this, our project team removed Catapult’s omindeck (a platform enabling natural instinctive movement in any direction, within the virtual world) and reinstated it to a ‘sunken’ level – in preparation for its role in the Visualisation Laboratory.
Working on the ground and third floors, in a live environment within a multi-occupancy building to a tight programme, our team ensured noise levels and disruption were kept to a minimum throughout the works. We are proud to have delivered a high-end project on time and within budget, to our client’s complete satisfaction.
