ITC Hosts SHE Constructs Work Placement in support of International Day of Women
26th February 2020
In the second and third weeks of February, ITC hosted Danielle Harley-Laws for a work experience placement as part of her SHE Constructs training programme.
We were keen to introduce Danielle to every aspect of working life at ITC, as well as to help her develop her own skills and areas of interest.
During her first week with us, Danielle visited the Royal Free Hospital, the Holmes Road site, the London Fire Commissioner and the South Thames College Wandsworth sites, where she was given site tours and the opportunity to learn about snagging, sit in on meetings and speak to clients.
In her second week, Danielle was once again busy with site visits, spending time at 5 Fleet Place, the Working Men’s College, Polka Theatre and Morley College. She learnt how to complete a Compliance Manager’s Site Inspection Report and audit, and was able to participate in a site walkaround where she flagged up any issues she thought needed attention from ITC.
Danielle’s final day was spent in the office, where she reflected on her time with ITC and shared what she had gained from the experience. The ITC Team members who had spent time with her noted her positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn.
We look forward to hosting more female work placement students in the future, and we will continue to support SHE Constructs – a programme run by Croydon Works and funded by the CITB which is designed to encourage women to move in (or back) to working in the Construction industry.
Many thanks to Darren Wisdom, Becky Malone, Stuart Brown, Neil Penn, Gary Punter, George Radu, Steph Davies, Serena Kennedy and everyone else who helped to make Danielle’s time with us so successful.
